We fell in love with the Cane Corso breed in 2008 after losing our beloved lab, Oreo. For the first time in 35 years of marriage, we would pick our own puppy rather than rescuing an older dog.
There were many things to consider:

  • Healthy:  We watched our lab, Oreo,  begin to deteriorate at the age of 2 with hip dysplasia and arthritis.  Even with medication she was not able to enjoy her favourite things.

  • Temperament:  We wanted a large breed of sound temperament.  The Cane Corso proves to be a family pet, good with adults, children, other pets, and welcomed company.

  • Protection:  We have a large sized lot next to a forest with upcoming developments in our surroundings. The Cane Corso name in Latin means "guardian" and "protector".

  • Light Shedding:  The Cane Corso is considered to be a light shedder.

  • The Cane Corso is highly intelligent and easily trained.  They are quickly becoming a sought after breed in Canada. They were officially recognized by the AKC in 2010 under "working dog".
